The Bemidji School of Tae Kwon Do is one of approximately 100 schools, within the International Black Belt Federation, under the direction of founder, 10th Degree WTF Great Grand Master Moo Yong Yun of Fargo, North Dakota.

The school is certified through the World Tae Kwon Do Federation, boasts over 4000 sq. feet, and has several branch schools located throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and Germany.

PROMOTION TESTS:

Belt rank promotion testing is held every three months at the end of each session. Students must perform the skills (form, techiques, oral presentation and board breaking) learned over the previous three months of practice.

If the test is successfully completed, the student is promoted and receives a new belt and rank certificate. Generally it will take a student, training two nights a week, 3 to 4 years to achieve the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt. All tests are conducted by a WTF certified 4th Degree (Master Level) Black Belt or above.

COMPETITIONS:

The Bemidji School of Tae Kwon Do and the Bemidji State University Tae Kwon Do Club, sponsors an invitational tournament each year in February. Within our Association (IBBF), 2-3 Tae Kwon Do tournaments are held every month. One Kumdo tournament is held each August.

In addition to these, students have the opportunity to compete in State, National, International and Olympic Championships. One of the benefits of participation is the reinforcement of the basic tenets and concepts of Tae Kwon Do, learned each day in class: Courtesy, Integrity, Self-Control, Perseverance, Indomitable Spirit, and Self-Confidence.

Although our students are not required to spar in class nor competitions, it is a way for participants to test their skills in a fully padded and safe environment.
